The James Morrison Jazz Scholarship recognises, celebrates and honours excellence and outstanding achievements in Jazz music and is open to young jazz instrumentalists 19 years of age and under as at 1st January 2022.
The Scholarship is in its 33rd year.
The scholarship provides $10,000 each year to an emerging artist to assist in the development of their musical career.
Identifying, recognising and rewarding musical excellence, the James Morrison Jazz Scholarship is sponsored by Melbourne philanthropist Andrea Evans and family and administered by Generations in Jazz Inc. Their sponsorship recognises the late Ron Evans’ love of jazz, along with his strong desire to encourage and foster musical talent.
To apply for the James Morrison Jazz Scholarship, solo instrumentalists are invited to complete the Scholarship Application Form and attach the appropriate supporting documentation and recordings.
From the applications, six (6) finalists will be selected and must be available to attend final adjudication in Mount Gambier during the Generations in Jazz weekend – 15th to 17th June 2022.
Selection of the finalists is made on the basis of applicants meeting the eligibility criteria deemed by the judging panel to display an outstanding level of musical ability and accomplishment in musical performance and on a personal needs basis

Applications will open October 18th 2021 for the coveted James Morrison Jazz Scholarship and close on 15th April 2022
Applicants must not be older than 19 years as at 1 January 2022.
In addition to the written documentation required, James Morrison Scholarship applicants must provide the following audio recordings as part of the audition process:

Make sure that the recording itself demonstrates the highest possible audio quality so that your performance can be evaluated fairly.
Professional recordings are not necessary and recordings using a Smart Phone (iPhone or similar), iPod / iPad with external mic, Zoom Recording Device or Digital Voice Recorder is suitable.
No video recording will be accepted as this is an anonymous audition process.
