James Morrison Instrumental Scholarship

Welcome to the James Morrison Jazz Scholarship, a prestigious award dedicated to recognising and celebrating exceptional talent in Jazz music. Open to young jazz instrumentalists 19 years and under of age as of January 1, 2026, this scholarship is now open.
Generously sponsored by Benara Pastoral, the scholarship offers $10,000 annually to support the development of emerging artists and further their musical careers. This initiative is administered by Generations in Jazz Inc., in honour of the Scott Family, who had a profound love for jazz and a strong commitment to nurturing musical talent.

To apply for the James Morrison Jazz Scholarship, solo instrumentalists are encouraged to complete the Scholarship Application Form, attaching the required supporting documentation and recordings. From the received applications, six (6) finalists will be carefully selected. Finalists must be available to attend the conclusive adjudication in Mount Gambier during the Generations in Jazz Festival from May 1 to 3, 2026.
Selection of the finalists is based on the judging panel’s evaluation of applicants meeting eligibility criteria and displaying an exceptional level of musical ability and accomplishment, taking personal needs into consideration.
